Send us the photograph. A person in our Shenzhen office identifies it, which on this catalogue works better than a machine would.
Automated image search needs an embedding index built over a large populated catalogue. Ours is being loaded, and an image search that returns three near-misses out of a catalogue of a few hundred looks broken even when it is working correctly.
So today this runs the way it runs in our office anyway. Send the photograph — a screenshot from a marketplace, a competitor's retail box, a sample on your desk, a sketch on paper — and somebody who buys in these categories every week tells you what it is, what it is likely made from, and roughly what it should cost at your quantity.
What helps most: a shot of the back label or the rating plate, because model numbers, cell configurations and certification marks are usually printed there. If it is a moulded plastic part, a photograph of the parting line and the gate mark tells us more about the tooling than the front of the product does.
